Z1 Fenzad stands out as a high-quality Red Delicious clone, though in the Himalayas it behaves differently than other Italian imports, catching its color much later in the season. Classified as a semi-spur type, it possesses robust vegetative vigor that allows it to fill canopy spaces effortlessly on dwarf rootstocks without stunting out. However, this heavier canopy requires careful management to prevent light shading. Once the late-season autumn cold hits, it develops a highly uniform, intense dark red finish. It is highly precocious and productive, yielding large, elongated conical fruit with distinct prominent lobes.
